The Abandoned Pennsylvania Turnpike is the common name of a 13-mile (21 km) stretch of the Pennsylvania Turnpike that was replaced in 1968 by a new stretch. This was done to eliminate traffic congestion caused by the two-lane Sideling Hill Tunnel and Rays Hill Tunnel. Due to this the Cove Valley travel plaza was demolished. The 1968 alignment is east of the heavily congested Breezewood interchange for Interstate 70 (I-70) eastbound at what is now I-76 exit 161. This was replaced two years after that alignment opened. The section of the turnpike was at one time part of the South Pennsylvania Railroad. The property is now officially named The Old PA Pike Trail.

Open the designer and the real Abandoned Pennsylvania Turnpike becomes a solid topographic model: the route rides on top of true elevation terrain, surrounding peaks and valleys included, with automatic place labels for the towns and landmarks along the way.
Everything is editable. Swap in your own dates, rename the labels, change the base shape, or replace the route entirely with the trip YOU took. The model you see is the model you get, as a watertight file ready for any 3D printer, or as a finished print made by us.
